DSD March 29, 2017: "The Poet" - The Arcadian Wild

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music!

The Poet - The Arcadian Wild

Nashville-based indie folk trio The Arcadian Wild return to the Daily Song Drop today (having first featured back in May of 2017 with their track "Envy Green") with "The Poet", the first song off of their mini-EP Look Around

Check it out below:

I love The Arcadian Wild's sound--the combination of their sweet, beautifully balanced three-part harmonies and the combination of guitar, mandolin, and fiddle all melt together into a song that feels like you've just put on your favourite sweater, and you're out for a walk on an absolutely perfect (early spring) day. These are three excellent musicians who compliment each other well, and also, in "The Poet" have different parts of the track open to allow each of them to shine in turn. It sounds complicated (and I'm sure it is), but the song sweeps you along with them, and I would be incredibly surprised if you do not feel at least a little bit better after having heard it.

The Arcadian Wild are one of the few, pure indie folk bands that I always keep an eye on for when they release something new, as they just have a sound that jives with me in a way that I cannot quite put into words. If you're feeling the same, and are looking for more tracks to enjoy, I obviously recommend "Envy Green", but if you're looking for a more mellow folk, be sure to check out the second half of Look Around called "Millstatt" or if that's not enough, check out their self-titled debut album from 2015.

The February 2018 DSD Apple Music List and February 2018 DSD Spotify List are available! These ones where admittedly tricky as it is a short month (meaning there are fewer songs for me to build the set with), and we are also missing a couple from the lists: "Coward's Castle" by Monti and "highr" by buuzey. However, I have to say that I do enjoy the playlist this month, and I hope you will check it out (at the links above), and share it with your friends!

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or search for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop, and the March Playlists!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
