DSD May 31, 2017: "Envy Green" - The Arcadian Wild

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop":'s song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.

Envy Green - The Arcadian Wild

Decided to wrap May's Daily Song Drops up with what is essentially a smile of a song with Nashville folk-trio The Arcadian Wild's single "Envy Green".

See what I mean below:

The Arcadian Wild utilize rich, three-part harmony, and a pile of strings (specifically, across their music, you will hear a variety/mix of guitar, mandolin, ukulele, and banjo) to create some of the best, feel-good indie folk I have ever heard. "Envy Green" is a song's almost hard to describe how good it feels to listen to: there's a sort of sweet purity to it that is like lightning in a bottle when it comes to folk music, and The Arcadian Wild just have a genuine sound. I cannot hear "Envy Green" and keep a bad mood going.

Lord knows I try.

Be sure to check out their more recent single "Willow" for a more relaxed folk song, or their self-titled debut album from a couple of years ago, because frankly, we all need more good folk in our lives.

The DSD Playlist - Apr 17 is now available! We are sadly missing one song from the last month (again), but I'm pretty happy with how this one all came together!

ICYMI (somehow) here is the DSD Playlist - Mar 17 , and there's also one kicking around for DSD Playlist - Feb 17 too!

See you again tomorrow (and that new May Playlist will be available on Friday!)

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
