DSD January 11, 2018: "This Feeling" - Natalie Shay

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop":'s song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music!

This Feeling - Natalie Shay

Today on the Daily Song Drop we have the latest single from the multi-award winning, North London indie pop/rock singer-songwriter Natalie Shay called "This Feeling".

Check out the track below:

I really dig the fusion of sound in "This Feeling": the track feels undeniably modern, but there are so many little threads of the best bits of 1990s, guitar-heavy pop rock, that the song has a real familiar vibe to it. The combination of Shay's excellent vocals (she has a special voice) and the rollicking guitar/percussion give the song a great deal of youthful energy, and creates a track that really speaks to its' themes of possibility, excitement, and the passion of young (or new) love. The production of "This Feeling" is top notch as well, as everything feels perfectly placed in creating an excellent song to kick off 2018.

"This Feeling" will be released on January 19, but if you cannot wait, be sure to check out a few of Natalie Shay's earlier singles, with the "oh man, I feel like I'm at a junior high dance again (and that's awesome)" ballad "DIVE", and keep an eye out for Shay in the future--she is definitely an up-and-coming performer who I feel we are going to hear a lot of great things from in 2018 and beyond.

For the first time ever on, here is the December Apple Music Playlist, and the December '17 Spotify Playlist! I decided that, rather than making myself crazy with a hybrid list between the two months (and thanks to the fact that I did a feature-full month) I would put this one together, which just means that the January playlist will be a tad shorter than most thanks to the TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 (with the in countdown order Apple Music TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 as Well as the Spotify TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 playlists here)

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or search for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
