DSD December 6, 2017: "Risky Love" - Lime Cordiale

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music!

Risky Love - Lime Cordiale

Sydney, Australia brothers Louis and Oli Leimbach make up Lime Cordiale, and released their debut album Permanent Vacation earlier this year, and today on the Daily Song Drop, we are going to take a look at "Risky Love" (which you can hear below:)

One of the things I really dig about Lime Cordiale is that they have a real, unique indie-alternative sound: there are elements of "Risky Love" that feel like Sublime, but then they add in strings, a wonderful, alt-folk/r&B style harmony for the chorus, and then you'll probably even get a few hints of The Black Keys, all melted together into one dope package. This (along with a lot of Lime Cordiale's work) takes a few listens to really unpack everything that they have layered into the song, but it never feels muddy, over over-complicated; everything in "Risky Love" needs to be there, and that's no small feat.

If you dig "Risky Love", be sure to give Permanent Vacation a look: every song offers something a little different, but all features excellent musicianship, production, and vocals, with another of my favourites being the beach-y "Can I Be Your Lover?", or head further back and check out some of their earlier singles, like the guaranteed to make you feel good "Waking Up Easy".

Here is the November Apple Music Playlist, and the November Spotify Playlist! I'm pretty happy with the flow on this one (and it was, for a change, a bit easier to put together thanks to how the tracks fit together). I also feel like this playlist has just the right amount of variation in it to make it awesome for any and all holiday travelling that you may have coming up...

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or serach for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
