DSD December 5, 2017: "Joshua Tree" - Cautious Clay

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music!

Joshua Tree - Cautious Clay

Before I say anything else, I have to say that Cautious Clay is definitely one of my favourite artist names that I have come across while doing the Daily Song Drop...it's just awesome...

Anyway: today we've got a cool, downtempo infused R&B track from producer/multi-instrumentalist/singer-songwriter Cautious Clay called "Joshua Tree" which you can check out below:

Long-time readers of the DSD will know that I am a big fan of artists who take sounds from different genres and blend them together into something new, and that is exactly what Cautious Clay has done with "Joshua Tree". Taking some smooth indie synth-wave/downtempo beats, kicking in an amazing, 1980's style saxophone line, and pulling it all together with some beautifully heartfelt R&B vocals created a sound that I just cannot get enough of. I am pretty sure that I have already listened to "Joshua Tree" about ten times today, and I don't think I'll be stopping any time soon...especially because lyrically, the track tells a really interesting story about trying to balance between love and personal growth (and who cannot relate to that).

If "Joshua Tree" is your first introduction to Cautious Clay (and you dig his sound) be sure to check out his first single "Cold War" for more of a chill vibe, and keep your eyes open for future releases (I will try my best to as well).

Here is the November Apple Music Playlist, and the November Spotify Playlist! I'm pretty happy with the flow on this one (and it was, for a change, a bit easier to put together thanks to how the tracks fit together). I also feel like this playlist has just the right amount of variation in it to make it awesome for any and all holiday travelling that you may have coming up...

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or serach for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
