DSD December 14, 2017: "Life Goes On" - E^ST

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop":'s song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music!

Life Goes On - E^ST

It feels a bit weird to put a sweet, summer anthem on the Daily Song Drop in December...but that is exactly what I am doing today with "Life Goes On" by Central Coast, Australian (where it is, indeed summer, so there's a method to my madness) artist E^ST.

Check out the official video below:

There's an emotional honesty to "Life Goes On", thanks largely to E^ST's beautiful really get a sense that this song taps not only into personal experience, but there's a sort of hopeless yearning for loves that "could have been" that is tapped into here that makes this song feel like it's for me--even though I know it isn't, the reality is, we all feel with E^ST here, because we have. The best part about everything I have just said when it comes to "Life Goes On" is that at it's heart, thanks to the piano/beat combination, still feels uplifting, and the whole package becomes a bittersweet anthem that demands to be sung along with, or at the very least, repeated in high rotation...

...oh, and good luck getting "Life Goes On" out of your head, but maybe for us Northern Hemisphere folks, that's a good thing, as track really does need to be brought around again for summer.

If you're looking for more E^ST, check out the addictive "Get Money! (feat. Mallrat)", and keep your fingers crossed that we get even more alt-pop awesomeness soon.

Here is the November Apple Music Playlist, and the November Spotify Playlist! I'm pretty happy with the flow on this one (and it was, for a change, a bit easier to put together thanks to how the tracks fit together). I also feel like this playlist has just the right amount of variation in it to make it awesome for any and all holiday travelling that you may have coming up...

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or search for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
