DSD November 2, 2017: "Faraway" - Braille Face

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.

Faraway - Braille Face

I'm excited that I get to share Melbourne, Australia's Braille Face with you today-- I was actually going to feature him on the Daily Song Drop back in October, but found out that he was going to be releasing a new single near the end of the month, so I've just been sitting here, listening to his earlier work, and looking forward to the day where I could share with you Braille Face's very latest...

...which happens to be today: check out "Faraway" below:

Braille Face is probably immediately going to remind some folks of Thom Yorke (of Radiohead fame), particularly in his vocals, but what I really appreciate about Braille Face is that while the compositions of his chill, electronic are complicated, I have not found anything to be muddy or over-complex for complexity sake (a criticism anyone who knows me knows that I have when it comes to Radiohead).

Case in point, is the beautifully chill "Faraway", which has a tranquil, ambient feeling, which really helps to feature not only a spotless production, but sweetly soulful vocals--this is one of those songs that I talk about from time to time that is absolutely perfect to slot into a late-night playlist, especially for when you're driving home/riding the train home and watching the city lights float by.

As I said above, I have been listening to Braille Face for a while now, which means that (if you dug "Faraway") I can recommend some of his earlier work, including the fun "Run For Your Life" and be sure to check out his 2016 album Koya.

The September 2017 Apple Music Playlist and September 2017 Spotify Playlist are ready! As is tradition, the lists are missing a track ("To Do" (Be Yourself) by LEMZI), but I suppose that's just something that you're going to be used to be now considering the way this always seems to go.

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or serach for TGF on either Apple Music or Spotify!

And don't forget, the October Playlist will be coming out this Friday!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig
