DSD November 13, 2017: "Eldorado" - Milano Sun

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop":'s song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music!

Eldorado - Milano Sun

Swedish pop band Milano Sun make their return to the Daily Song Drop today (having first appeared back in May)  with their latest single (released just this past Friday on VÅRØ Records) called "Eldorado".

Check out the song below:

"Eldorado" is a fun shift from Milano Sun-- while those sweet, retro tones are still all present, this track adds a grittier, more garage-band energy to their sound, which I think suits them incredibly well. I get some very intense Sloan or even The Black Keys vibes from "Eldorado", which i appreciate, but that does not overwhelm Milano Sun's retro-psychedelia roots...frankly combining into something really quite excellent.

I really cannot get enough of that balance between the dreamy vocals, and the gritty, grounded electric guitar; it's not only a fun sound, but it is intensely catchy (to the point of a bit addictive--"Eldorado" has been in high rotation for me for the better part of a week now).

Milano Sun is a great, up-and-coming indie pop band, especially for anyone who really digs a retro/psychedelic sound. I obviously suggest checking out the summery "Boomerang" (as that was featured here in May), but you really can't go wrong with anything these lads do. I mean, the "B" side of "Eldorado", " ", is a great, heavily 60s infused slow burn of a track that is just so beautifully produced....I'm hopeful we will see a full album someday soon (and I promise I will most likely talk about it here if we do)

Y'all aren't going to believe this...but for what feels like the first time ever: both the October 2017 Apple Music Playlist and the October '17 Spotify Playlist have every track we talked about on them.
That also, for some reason, meant that it was a list that took a little time for me to get together, but once I got the first few songs figured out (always tricky trying to nail down how to start) everything seemed to click right into place.

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or serach for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!
