DSD January 15, 2018: "Here At Last" - William Black x Rico & Miella

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music!

Here At Last - William Black x Rico & Miella

It is very rare that I talk about a collaboration here on the Daily Song Drop, but I could not pass up talking about the indie dance track "Here At Last" by Los Angeles based DJ/Producer William Black, and New York DJ/Producers/Vocalists Rico & Miella.

Check the track out below:

It's hard to describe why I dig "Here At Last" as much as I do: I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it is not only a brilliant bit of EDM (that flows and progresses into something that really makes you need to move--a hallmark of a truly great EDM track), but Rico & Miella's vocals have a real indie folk-pop vibe to them...and while you might not think that that combination makes a lot of sense, somehow, in "Here At Last" it all comes together into a track that I have been listening to on repeat for the better part of an afternoon. After a few listens, I think what is most striking is that the track takes a definite journey, and never falls into feeling repetitive, which is the trap so many indie electronic tracks fall into--"Here At Last" is an EDM track that needs to be heard again and again, loud, and preferably in a room with a whole pile of good people.

I know last Friday I said that I didn't seem to talk about indie EDM a lot on here (despite being a former DJ myself), but if I keep finding dope tracks like "Here At Last", you can expect a helluva a lot more on here.

For the first time ever on theguysfrom.com, here is the December Apple Music Playlist, and the December '17 Spotify Playlist! I decided that, rather than making myself crazy with a hybrid list between the two months (and thanks to the fact that I did a feature-full month) I would put this one together, which just means that the January playlist will be a tad shorter than most thanks to the TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 (with the in countdown order Apple Music TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 as Well as the Spotify TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 playlists here)

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or search for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
