Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
This Moment - Clean/Cut
San Diego indie trap duo Clean/Cut released their debut EP The Line earlier this year, and it's a very solid debut, evidenced particularly well by their track "This Moment"; check it out below:
Starting with a re-worked Phil Collins sample, "This Moment" then unfurls itself as a really enjoyable track; produced exceptionally well, the balance between the lyrics (where Clean/Cut gets out of the way of them with pared down backing) and the synth-heavy electro is executed to a T, keeping the tempo solid and delivering a song that is both catchy, and perfect for any real DJ set.
Plus, longtime DSD readers probably hear that piano, and understand why I got hooked in on this track--any DJ who uses keys well will get my attention.
I was actually originally going to talk about "Bring Down the House" here...if "This Moment" is your kind of jam, you're going to enjoy Clean/Cut, and you can pick up The Line with confidence that there are going to be a number of tracks right up your alley.
Here's the June 2017 DSD Playlist! We're only missing one track this month (as is tradition)! This months list was actually one of the harder ones for me to put together into something that feels (at least sort of) cohesive...I'm not sure why, but I am happy with the way it turned out in the end!
I've also heard you, and here it is: theguysfrom playlists are now available on Spotify! You can find us by looking for theguysfrom on Spotify, click on this link for the June '17 Spotify List.
The July 2017 playlist will be (should be) available this coming Friday (on both Apple Music and Spotify) so be sure to come on back for that...
See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!
The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
