DSD July 28, 2017: "T.M.V." - Gonzalla

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop":'s song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.

T.M.V. - Gonzalla

It's rare that a pop song worms its' way into my head, but "T.M.V." by Los Angeles based artist Gonzalla has done just that (which is obviously why I'm sharing it with y'all, that way you can have it in your heads's a vicious cycle).

Check the track out below:

This is pure indie pop: the sort of nonchalant vocals reinforced by summery synths that we all know (and those of us who are fans, love), but "T.M.V." is just so spotlessly produced and balanced that it really does stand out for me from a lot of the other indie pop. I like the way Gonzalla plays within mid-tempo, edging towards a more laid-back sound, but never lapsing into a slower pace (even when the music drops completely, the energy stays the same).

I think I would be weirded out if you, gentle reader/listeners were not singing along with with "T.M.V." by the end; like the best indie pop, it gets its hooks into you and does not let go...I had some errands today, and caught myself just singing "runnin' through my veins" to myself on more than one occasion, so don't be surprised if it happens to you as well.

Here's the June 2017 DSD Playlist! We're only missing one track this month (as is tradition)! This months list was actually one of the harder ones for me to put together into something that feels (at least sort of) cohesive...I'm not sure why, but I am happy with the way it turned out in the end!

ICYMI (somehow) here are the May 2017 DSD Playlist DSD Playlist - Apr 17DSD Playlist - Mar 17 , and there's also one kicking around for DSD Playlist - Feb 17 too!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
