DSD May 11, 2017: "Figure it Out" - Coastals

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop":'s song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.

Figure it Out - Coastals

Coastals is an indie alt-pop rock band from Florida who have a really nice, laid-back sound to them, as evidenced by their latest release "Figure it Out".

Check out "Figure it Out" below:

The guitar in "Figure it Out" is really what draws me into this track, and I really appreciate how all of the pieces of the track seem to work together to let the guitar stand out (without sacrificing the chill vocals, which is quite a feat). Coastals have nailed a laid back, summery alt-pop rock feel here, as this is a song that really needs to be played whilst lounging around outside in the sun, preferably by water, and with something cold in hand.

The lads are students at USF, so they're most likely just recovering from finals, and are working on "bringing out some new content", so if you dig "Figure it Out" be sure to keep an eye out for what they are up to next.

The DSD Playlist - Apr 17 is now available! We are sadly missing one song from the last month (again), but I'm pretty happy with how this one all came together!

ICYMI (somehow) here is the DSD Playlist - Mar 17 , and there's also one kicking around for DSD Playlist - Feb 17 too!

See you again tomorrow (with probably another completely different sounding song, so I can hate myself come Playlist time...)

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
