Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Kyra - Clubhouse
Making their return to theguysfrom.com, Columbus, Ohio's Clubhouse (who I originally talked about back in January 2016) released their latest single, "Kyra" earlier this year and it's pretty damn good. "Kyra" is an alt-pop/electro-pop song that I actually found myself singing along to during my first listen--it's not only catchy, but it feels warmly familiar.
Give "Kyra" a listen below:
I really like how Clubhouse constructs their songs: they are very cleanly produced, and largely remain either mellow, or in "Kyra"s case, edging to mid-tempo, letting each part, from snyth to vocals to come together into a pleasing whole. "Kyra" is a beach-blanket of a song--it's exactly what you want when you want it, and if you're looking for a good, warm weather electro-pop track, "Kyra" should be on your list.
Just this past month, they also released "Kyra (Midnight Remix)" which is also awesome--they injected an urban, late night, 1980s feel into the track, and it works really well. Honestly, I will be very surprised if we don't hear one of the two versions in something (film, tv, commercial...something)....and soon.
The DSD Playlist - Apr 17 is now available! We are sadly missing one song from the last month (again), but I'm pretty happy with how this one all came together!
Remember, if you want me to put these playlists on other services (like Spotify), let me know on Twitter (I've linked it below)
If you're looking for more great music, are late to the party, or just want more theguysfrom.com in your day, here are the playlists for:
There are other (earlier) playlists available for you if you check older "Tuesday Tunes" articles, or search on Apple Music itself.
See you again next week!
The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
