DSD March 6, 2017: "Oracle Arena" - Dubby

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.

Oracle Arena - Dubby of TeamLoko

I don't often talk about indie hip-hop (not a scene I know as much about), but occasionally I come across a track that I cannot get out of my head, and "Oracle Arena" by Dubby of TeamLoko is one of those. "Oracle Arena"' is elegantly simple when it comes to beat and counterbeat, and the verses are spotless, but it's the hook/chorus that has me coming back over and over again.

Give it a listen below (heads up: lyrics aren't exactly SFW):

This track is both fun, and clever, with a video that is simple, but let's you really focus on Dubby and the music. I honestly cannot tell you how many times I've listened to "Oracle Arena" in the last couple of weeks, but I'm pretty sure it's once a day at least (and it has a place of honour at this point in a couple of my rap/hip hop playlists).

Check out his debut album Heart & Havoc as well if you dig "Oracle Arena"--I feel like the last couple singles have been a real step up as well, and I'm going to be keeping an eye out for the next releases as he keeps refining his sound.

Well, I tried my best (...like I actually have control over anything when it comes to Apple Music), and even though we are missing a couple of tracks, the DSD Playlist - Feb 17 is available, and it's pretty damn great.
Hope you enjoy it too!

Remember, if you want me to expand where I put these playlists beyond Apple Music, you just need to let me know on Twitter, and I'll see what I can do.
