DSD March 22, 2017: "Friendzone (featuring Lydia Kelly) - Aash Mehta

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.

Friendzone (featuring Lydia Kelly) - Aash Mehta

Indie DJ and producer Aash Mehta recently released an EP called Stardust, which features some really great electronic music, like "Friendzone" featuring the always amazing vocalist, Lydia Kelly. "Friendzone" has an intimacy to it that, even when the track scales up musically, never gets lost--it's a fine balance, and Mehta has executed it perfectly.

Check the track out below:

Honestly, "Friendzone" is the sort of indie electronic that I love finding: excellently produced, does not fall into a lot of the modern EDM traps, and features an absolutely beautiful vocalist (while not trying to overproduce, or overwhelm them). This will be on rotation in a lot of my personal playlists for a while, particularly for later nights, or any driving through the city.

Stardust, if you are into indie electronic, is an EP you really owe it to yourself to check out; top to bottom, it's an excellent album.

Well, I tried my best (...like I actually have control over anything when it comes to Apple Music), and even though we are missing a couple of tracks, the DSD Playlist - Feb 17 is out now, and it's pretty damn great.
Hope you enjoy it too!

Remember, if you want me to expand where I put these playlists beyond Apple Music, you just need to let me know on Twitter, and I'll see what I can do.

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
