DSD November 7, 2017: "Daydream (feat. NAKAYA) - Glassio

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music!

Daydream (feat. NAKAYA) - Glassio

New York indie alt/dance pop duo Glassio are one of those groups that I have been listening to for a little while, and thought that I had already shared with y'all, but then discover I haven't yet. Thankfully, in Glassio's case, my realizing that happened right around the time they released their latest single "Daydream" featuring NAKAYA.

Check out the song below:

"Daydream" is a perfect late autumn/early winter (if you're anywhere near where I live, it's snowing...so I'm already in a winter frame of mind); this song has a cool-tone to it that is just the right kind of hazy, but still energetic (even cresting into mid-tempo) alt-pop that is absolutely perfect for a chilly days's commute. "Daydream" is a track that makes me want to take the long way home, or just spend that little bit of extra time watching the snow fall. The addition of NAKAYA's vocals (along with Glassio) adds more depth to how densely layered this track is as well, all culminating in something really quite splendid.

If you're looking for more Glassio, they have released several really excellent alt-dream-pop singles, so you really cannot go wrong picking almost anything out of their catalog, but a personal favourite of mine for a little while now is the fun and upbeat "Morning House (feat. Charles Fauna)".

Y'all aren't going to believe this...but for what feels like the first time ever: both the October 2017 Apple Music Playlist and the October '17 Spotify Playlist have every track we talked about on them.
That also, for some reason, meant that it was a list that took a little time for me to get together, but once I got the first few songs figured out (always tricky trying to nail down how to start) everything seemed to click right into place.

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or serach for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!
