Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Quiet - EXES
Los Angeles' EXES makes their return to theguysfrom.com today (having first appeared back on the old "Tuesday Tunes" feature in August 2016) with their latest single: "Quiet".
Check the track out below:
"Quiet" is yet another great electro-dream pop track from EXES, with a bit more of a chill vibe, but it still executes on everything that makes this duo so good: Allie McDonald's vocals are pitch perfect as always (and she really does have one of the best voices in indie dream pop today), and the overall production has just the right amount of build, with each instrument/track layered so beautifully that "Quiet" really nails down the "dream". I always appreciate the fact that not only can I always pick out an EXES track as soon as I hear it, but they never fail to deliver something that progresses, and develops every time you listen to it.
Honestly I'm always keeping an eye out for whenever EXES releases another single, and I hope that you are diving in to check out more of their work as well (especially the other dream pop fans out there) as they really do have a special sound.
The September 2017 Apple Music Playlist and September 2017 Spotify Playlist are ready! As is tradition, the lists are missing a track ("To Do" (Be Yourself) by LEMZI), but I suppose that's just something that you're going to be used to be now considering the way this always seems to go.
If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or serach for TGF on either Apple Music or Spotify!
See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!
The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig
