This week we return with a variety of indie pop, mostly with an upbeat feel to it, just because it's starting to feel like spring...
The Guys From do not hold the rights to any of these songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music, or re-expose them to things they may have forgotten about.
At the top of each section, will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
Native - KYKO
South London's Scott Verrill aka KYKO is an exciting young singer-songwriter, who produces very vibrant and upbeat indie pop, that screams out to be included on anyone's next road trip. It's excellently mixed, fun and sounds quite different than a lot of the indie pop on the scene right now (which is definitely a good thing); the best thing I can say is that "Native" is just one of those songs that you could very easily hear everywhere, or it could be your own little indie-pop treasure
Vagabond - WILD
California folk-pop trio WILD return to Tuesday Tunes again this month with their latest track "Vagabond". I really like WILD's sound; they remind me a lot of Of Monsters and Men (one of my favorite bands to appear in the past few years). "Vagabond" is another upbeat, and warm feeling song, filled with WILD's beautiful vocal harmonies and layers, as well as their always well thought out guitar.
Crimson - Noah Kenton
Noah Kenton, a indie pop singer/songwriter from Virginia is next up this week with his second single off of his second EP Multiple Forms: "Crimosn". "Crimson" is a well rounded, and well produced track that really features Kenton's vocal work, and a clever lyric set, ably supported with a simple, yet effective guitar. There's a lot to like here, and I for one am looking forward to hearing more of what Kenton comes up with in future.
Fast but slow - HEY WAY
Hailing from Odense, Denmark, HEY WAY is a new indie pop duo (Søren Corneliussen &
Hasse Mydtskov) who have a beautifully mellow track in "Fast but slow" that really deserves more attention than it's (as of this writing) 167 views.
Well produced and chill, "Fast but slow" is a perfect song for those times when you are just looking to have a beverage, and watch the world pass by; it's a quiet moment song, and I know that we could all use a few more of those.
Glowing Mouth - Milagres
Decided I hadn't done any sort of throwback song recently, so I'm going allllll the way back to 2012 (I know) with Milagres' "Glowing Mouth". I cannot tell you what it is about this song that has always jived with me, it's a strange, dream-y snythpop song with one of the most deliciously retro, and ironically terrible videos you will ever see. "Glowing Mouth" has been, for the better part of 4 years, one of my go-to songs when I just need a bit of mellow in my day, and so I pass this sparkly, weirdness on to you.
Oh, and if you're watching the video, enjoy the drummer...just...yeah: he's having a great time.
The February Tuesday Tunes Apple Music Playlist, with all the songs put together the way we all like it--it's a good list this month, and it was fairly easy to put together into a set...the lack of folk metal helped, but there is still the odd jump that I would talk you through if I was actually spinning this.
The Massive, 2-month (and almost impossible to blend together) December & January Tuesday Tunes Apple Music Playlist is right here. The November Tuesday Tunes Apple Music Playlist and the October Apple Music Playlist is still available of course as well, in case you have not caught those yet (or just need more theguysfrom.com in your life).
Support what you dig! It's soooo much cheaper than anything else out there. You cannot even buy a hamster hat for what one of the songs listed here would cost you....stupid hamster hat inflation.
See you again next week with 5 more Tuesday Tunes!
