DSD April 3, 2018: "Happiness" - Callum Pitt

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
If you enjoy the TGF Playlists, it would help us out a lot if you could share them with folks, as with the new algorithms on Facebook and Instagram, TGF is having to fight harder for traffic, so sharing the songs (articles) or lists is something you could do that can really make a difference!

Happiness - Callum Pitt

Indie folk singer/songwriter Callum Pitt makes his return to theguysfrom.com today (having first featured on the Daily Song Drop back in November 2017)  with his most recent single called "Happiness".

Check the track out below:

As we round into spring, I've been finding myself drawn to warm songs like "Happiness"; this has such a light...for lack of a better word, happy feeling infused throughout it. This is a song that pretty much had me swaying along with it almost immediately as it gives the sensation of sitting outside with a bunch of good friends and just singing together.
Or, at the very least, being invited to sit and listen to some friends who are way more musically talented.

I love the tempo Pitt maintains in "Happiness" as even though the track is instrumentally lush, it never feels overwhelming or oppressive, yet maintains a festive, warmth no matter how many layers are pouring out of your speakers. This serves as an excellent backdrop to the rolling, harmonic vocals--everything in "Happiness" works together so well that by the end of the track you are (hopefully) feeling that little bit happier....or at least have let a few of those daily anxieties go.

If this is your first introduction to Callum Pitt, be sure to check out some of his earlier work, including "Rabbits"  or another favourite of mine called "You'd Better Sell It While You Can".

The March 2018 DSD Apple Music Playlist and the March 2018 DSD Spotify Playlist are now available! Once again, we are missing a few of tracks this month, those being "Dungeons" - Malik,  "EPIPHANY" by Pizzo Da LP, and "One Night in Tokyo" - The New Division (though this is due to the fact that the new album does not drop until the end of May).
Even though there are a few gaps that made constructing the list a bit tricky, I think it turned out pretty well and  I hope you will check it out and share it with folks!

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or search for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
