DSD December 19, 2017: "No Advice" - Little Coyote

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music

No Advice - Little Coyote

Australian indie-rock band Little Coyote makes their return to theguysfrom.com today, having originally featured way back in July 2016 on Tuesday Tunes. Today we are going to take a listen to their single "No Advice" (which you can check out below):

When compared to the first track we talked about, "Neverending" (way back when), "No Advice" feels a lot more like a traditional indie rock track--it does still feature some of that quirky awesomeness of Little Coyote, as well as their always excellent songwriting, but there is a lot that indie rock fans will recognize here: rolling drums, catchy electric guitar riffs, and perfectly dirty alt-rock vocals, all excellently performed, and put together into one very satisfying rock track.
I mean, it even has a grimy (in the best way) guitar solo in the middle, how is that not just quintessential alt-rock?

Little Coyote is one of those indie rock bands that, whenever they release something new, I know that I am going to listen to ASAP (and probably pick up for myself to continue listening, repeatedly, in the future). Obviously I recommend the track that we talked about last year (as it did make our Top 20 of 2016, but they have a nice variety of singles, including the slower, perfect for a chill day "Egypt" or the upbeat, just try not to clap-along, gospel tinged "Clouded Fray".

Here is the November Apple Music Playlist, and the November Spotify Playlist! I'm pretty happy with the flow on this one (and it was, for a change, a bit easier to put together thanks to how the tracks fit together). I also feel like this playlist has just the right amount of variation in it to make it awesome for any and all holiday travelling that you may have coming up...

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or search for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
